Don't Let Fear Stop You! Embrace YOUR Dreams!Welcome
We’re the Trayer’s…
We embarked on our off-grid journey in 2010 when it wasn’t glamorous, sought after, or even a consideration by most. To be honest, many were betting against us as we lived in the wall tent above for 8 1/2 months (from May 21st to December 11th) while building our first homestead from the ground up on raw wilderness land in north Idaho. That was the most amazing time of my life! It wasn’t always easy, as a matter of fact, it was the hardest any of us had ever worked (and we love hard work), yet it was so incredibly gratifying to see the fruits of our labor. Our presence online happened a bit by accident with a YouTube channel and a website created for our families to follow our progress so they knew we weren’t eaten by mountain lions, wolves, or bears while living in a tent.
Other people began to follow our journey and we felt the nudge to share our knowledge and educate others about how to live a more prepared life. Here we are, over a decade later, continuing to share our knowledge on YouTube and in our academy and membership. In 2016, I had life-saving surgery, which had me flat on my back for a year and on a 7-year healing journey. This journey was also very divine. Though it put us in a very dire financial place due to my healing and caused us to have to sell our first homestead, God used me as a vessel to save lives. Now God is stepping me deeply into the wellness arena as a certified Breathworker (you’ve got to try it)! I’m currently a student, and moving forward I will be a licensed Integrative Health Practitioner. I will be helping others find the root cause of their health issues, to find answers, give them hope, and ultimately a better life. In 2020, we built our 2nd off-grid homestead (12′ x 16′ tiny home) once again from the ground up on raw wilderness land in north Idaho while living in a tent! Imagine that!
Perspective in life plays such a big role in how we live our lives and handle adversity. None of our struggles were show stoppers, they were part of our journey and grew us individually, stronger together, and ultimately to who we each are today! We don’t skip a beat with adversity, we roll with it! Life is a wild ride and is meant to be lived! The Mountain Man has such amazing abilities – he is my MacGyver. I always say he can build a pistol out of a paper clip. His abilities allow us to be as self sufficient as we are and he willingly shares his knowledge to help others to do the same. The Mountain Boy is high-functioning autistic and if he believed the naysayers he wouldn’t have excelled in our environment, coming out of his autism shell and thriving! He homeschooled at his pace, he explored our wilderness playground at his pace, and became the animal whisperer seeing so much more detail in the animals that others would miss.
He is a licensed Idaho driver, he enjoys riding motorcycles, he has a great job, and he is going to college. He has overcome 97% of his autism tendency because we taught him how to step out of his comfort zone! Nothing is impossible to him! I am so proud of my Mountain Boy and my Mountain Man. I have personally penned several books, some while flat on my back. Adversity didn’t stop me, it just slowed me down. I like my new pace, I never missed anything before, but now I can slow down and enjoy the beauty of things deeper and I don’t feel guilty for doing so. Everything in life has purpose and when we focus on the gratitude in our lives through the good, bad, and ugly, it changes our perspective. When we also keep God first and praise him through the good, the bad, and the ugly life gets even more profound! Our simple life may not seem simple to others, but we live faithfully, happily, healthily, and have been pretty much unaffected by the happenings of our world over the last three years. We desire to teach others how to be better prepared for whatever may come their way both in life and in health and that of course all starts with putting Jesus first.
